Founder Sharon Ladd started the business in 2021, but began pet-sitting casually for friends and family almost fifteen years before that. When she moved from Chicago to KC, she decided to turn that into a career. Since Pet Geek started, we’ve grown so quickly and are so appreciative of our awesome clients and the privilege of being in their pets’ lives.

Since opening the business, Sharon has become Fear Free certified, along with many other training and certifications. She is also currently attending Karen Pryor Academy for Animal Training in Behavior in their Dog Trainer Professional program, in order to be able to better serve clients with training services and classes in 2024. We are so excited to see our team grow, better serve our clients, and continue to offer new and improved opportunities for pet parents to see their pets thrive.

Pet Geek is the only dog walk service that is on-demand in this area. Clients can log into their app, schedule a dog walk from their phone, and have a walker the same day. We also offer specific enrichment services, and adventure hikes to get your dog out in nature and exploring their world. Sharon Ladd is also Fear Free, Pet First Aid, and CPR certified.

The Animal Lover Who Turned Her Passion into a Successful Career

Sharon is the founder and managing director of Pet Geek KC. She has been an animal lover all her life and has turned that passion into a successful career.

Sharon’s journey to founding her own company began over a decade ago when she started pet sitting casually while working as a children’s theater director. She later transitioned to working in mental health education and health care administration, but her love of animals remained a constant in her life.

History

After moving to Kansas City from Chicago in 2021, Sharon decided to make her side gig her full-time job and founded The Pet Geek KC. Her dedication to providing high-quality, Fear Free Certified pet care is evident in every aspect of the business, from hiring the best staff to ensuring that every pet in her care is treated with kindness and compassion.

NAPPS member (National Association of Professional Pet Sitters)

In addition to her pet care certifications, Sharon is currently attending Karen Pryor Academy’s Dog Trainer Professional Program to further her knowledge of positive reinforcement dog training. She hopes to be able to add training services to her company’s offerings in 2024.

When She's Not Working

When she’s not working, Sharon enjoys writing, playing Dungeons and Dragons, hiking, and spending time with her own pets: Cherry the border collie, and cats Tali and Edi. Her commitment to the well-being of all animals, combined with her extensive experience in pet care and business management, make her a valued member of the Kansas City pet care community.

Same-day requests can be made until 12pm.

To guarantee booking, please book by Sunday at 5pm.

On-Demand

We do not accept on-demand booking on the weekends. All Saturday and Sunday visits must be scheduled by 5pm on Friday.
